CENTRAL STREET — Tuesday afternoon, Jerry Murphy ejected out of a lounge chair like a fighter pilot abandoning a plane after accidentally hitting the wrong button on the chair's remote.

"I went straight through my popcorn ceiling and landed in the passenger seat of a convertible down on Main street, all I wanted to do was put the foot rest up," said Jerry as he pulled a 10-foot piece of plaster off the top of his head.

The convertible driver, semi-retired baseball coach Pat Waters, said “I was giving a thumbs up to townspeople while showing off my car as I sped up through the common when the man came flying out of the sky like a foul ball and landed right in my passenger seat. I mean I don't mind giving the guy a ride but c'mon hail a cab next time," continued Waters as he pressed a seat warmer button just to see if it would send Jerry out of the car.

The seller of the chair, Wanda Barnaby, said “he was probably using it wrong” as she reviewed the Fighter Jet Seat User Manual for the chair she sold Jerry last month.
