WENDY & DAN’S ROOF — Local roofer Peter Farelli was stranded on Wendy and Dan Pott’s roof for the afternoon while the Potts left their home to pick up a pizza only to return home to find Peter sitting on the roof having grown a full beard and long hair in the matter of a few hours while they were gone.
"Peter's ladder flew off while he was up there, stranding him atop the house for 2, maybe 3 hours while we ate pizza at The Pizza Shack downtown...which is a great spot if you're ever looking for a slice. I mean the sauce is just the best I've ever had," continued Wendy forgetting that Peter was still on the roof.
It wasn’t long before the local news channel showed up after Peter called them to discuss his harrowing stay on the roof saying at one point he was certain he was a goner.
“I was basically just a sitting duck for a hawk to come right up and swoop me for lunch,” said Peter even though a hawk would not be able to pick up anything larger than 4 lbs.
“At one point, I fought off 10 or so hawks, eagles and a hungry seagull," continued Peter as he flexed his arm muscles, "it was more of an annoyance than anything. I had no other choice than to toss a half-eaten granola bar I had onto the ground so the hawks would swoop and grab that, instead of me," said Peter to the news cameras as Wendy tossed him up a slice of pizza.
“Not only did I have to deal with being potential hawk lunch, but I felt like Tom Hanks in Castaway, except I didn’t have his volleyball to keep me company,” continued Peter as he finally descended from the roof after his ladder was thrown back up, “all I had was a hammer and a few shingles.”
Local craft expert and neighbor Mary Weathers weighed in saying he could have fashioned a volleyball from the shingles.
“Shingles are flexible, just like the material of a volleyball. And he had all the tools. All he needed to do was pull some shingles from the roof, and mold them into a ball, find some acorn caps and pine needles in the gutters and add some character to the ball,” continued Mary as she began to write up DIY instructions. "Now he knows for next time."
Peter was seen picking up his ladder to head home only to be picked up by a flock of ten hawks who dropped him back on the roof, in what looked like an act of revenge.
Good ending 🤪
