MAIN STREET CAFE They’ve done it again, Main Street Cafe is pushing boundaries by offering to just sprinkle a half dozen or so maple leaves on top of pancake stacks straight from a tree in the parking lot.

"People always ask for maple syrup, with everything at this time of year. We were doing maple butters, maple spreads, maple ketchups, you name it. Then we decided, why not just use a full leaf instead?" said cafe owners Bob and Barb Crumbton certain their idea was genius.

“It’s inventive, and wow they even let you bring your own leaf which is even better,” said Main Street regular Joshua Payton as he pulled a crisp maple leaf from his front pocket and placed it atop his short pancake stack.

Customers were delighted as they brought bags of leaves in, fresh from raking and eager to add to their favorite pancake dish at the cafe.

“It’s the most autumn activity in town by far,” said diner and fall enthusiast Emma Tins as she asked for some acorns to add to her pancake stack as well, “I chose to get a maple leaf from the tree in the parking lot, that way I know it’s fresh."

The frenzy attracted local leafologist, Declan Pinebirch, who said the cafe’s move is purely to attract buzz and sat in a corner booth explaining to customers the intricacies of maple leaves in which they were about to devour.

“The maple leaf isn’t just a pancake topping, there’s much more to it, like the crisp shape of the leaf,” said Declan as he watched as countless leaves were used as pancake fodder, “it’s quite the set up here I have to say I’m impressed, and as long as it's drumming up interest in leaves then I suppose it's a good thing, maybe even a great thing!” continued Declan confident that everyone had been excitedly anticipating his arrival.

Declan was seen prepping to give an informative lecture on leaf patterns in his booth before the cafe was forced to shut down after it was inundated with thousands of leaf bags as residents were excited to have a place to finally drop their yard rakings.
